The secret surprise

What is the secret surprise in my order?

Every print order comes with a small secret surprise tucked into the envelope from me. It is different for each person — that is the whole point. It may be a hand-written note, a tiny doodle, a hidden message, a sticker, or something I made while I was working on that collection. Nobody gets the same one, and no two envelopes are packed the same way.

Do the first 50 orders get something different?

The first 50 print orders each receive their own one-of-a-kind surprise from me. After that, every order still includes a small surprise — I am not going to stop doing the part I love most.

Can I ask for a specific surprise?

You are welcome to tell me anything you like in the order notes, and I will read it. There is no pressure to write anything at all. I cannot promise a specific item, because the surprise is meant to be a small unplanned gift rather than an add-on you have to choose.

Is there really a hidden message in each piece?

Yes. Along with my CR signature, every piece has a hidden or secret message worked into it somewhere. Some people find theirs right away, some never look, and both are completely fine. If you want to hunt for it, it is there. If you just want to enjoy the art, that works too.

How prints are numbered

How is each print signed and numbered?

Each card is printed from the original hand-drawn piece, then signed by hand on the back with my CR signature mark and numbered as a fraction — for example 014/200. The first number is your individual card, the second is the total size of that edition.

How large is an edition?

Each design is limited to 200 numbered cards. When those 200 are gone, that design is retired and never reprinted at that size.

Can I choose my number?

Numbers go out roughly in order as I sign and pack them, so I cannot reserve a specific one. If a number is meaningful to you, mention it in the order notes and I will do my best — no promises, and no need to ask.

Does the number make it more valuable?

Lower numbers sometimes matter to collectors, but honestly every card is the same drawing, printed and signed the same careful way. Buy the one you connect with, not the one you think will resell.

Are the cards numbered as a set too?

If you order a complete collection, the cards inside come from the same numbered run where possible, so the set reads as one piece on your shelf or in your binder.

How the hospital art works

Where was this art made?

Both available collections were drawn while I was a patient in a psychiatric hospital. I had no phone, no internet, and one shared wall phone. Art was the only thing I had that helped, so that is what I did.

What is the Secret Patient Pencil?

On my first day, a pencil fell out from between my mattress and the bed frame. Pencils are contraband in a psychiatric hospital, so someone before me had hidden it there. I used it safely to draw seven girls, then put it back in the same spot for whoever stayed in room *** after me. I like to think the tradition started before me and is still going.

What did you use for Skeleton Psychosis?

The tiny bendy safety pen patients are allowed to use, plus art markers and paper I was permitted to have under supervision, outside of my room. The pen is small and flexible and genuinely hard to write with, let alone draw with. Working sitting up hurt because of my chronic back pain. Those twelve colorful skeletons came out anyway.

Is any of it made with AI?

No. Not one line. Every piece is drawn entirely by hand. No AI generation, no AI assistance, no filters. I am left-handed, so you will sometimes see a little smudge — I leave it in.

Is this outsider art or art brut?

Yes — it sits squarely in outsider art and art brut. It is untrained, unfiltered, and imperfect, and so am I. That is the point. Every piece is a reminder that nobody is perfect and it is okay to be exactly who you are.

Are the collections about trauma?

They come from a hard time, but they are not meant to sell you sadness. They are meant to be collected and displayed as a gentle reminder to look for the good inside a bad moment and to feel grateful for small things we usually take for granted.

Sizing, shipping & returns

What size are the cards?

Each print is 2.5 × 3.5 inches — exactly the size of a baseball card or artist trading card. They are small on purpose. They ship in protective sleeves and fit trading-card binders, mini frames, and little display stands.

What does a mystery card mean?

There are three simple choices per collection: one mystery card, three mystery cards, or the complete collection. With a mystery choice I pick the designs for you. With the complete collection you get every design in that collection.

Will I get duplicates?

Inside a single order, mystery cards are pulled without duplicates. If you place several separate orders, some overlap is possible.

How does shipping work?

Cards ship flat and protected in a rigid mailer, with your secret surprise inside. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and US shipping is free on orders over $30.

Is checkout secure?

Yes. Checkout is handled by Shopify, so your card details go straight to Shopify's secure payment system and never touch this site.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Because every card is signed and numbered, sales are final — but if something arrives damaged or does not arrive at all, email ChannonRose@me.com within 14 days and I will make it right.

Can I buy an original or a large canvas print?

Yes. Large originals are available by inquiry, starting around $1,500, and large canvas prints can be made to order. There is a quiet form below — fill it in whenever you feel like it, and I will reply personally.
